Wherever you’re reading this, Happy Thanksgiving. Here on The Blog, we’re thankful for all our race fans, drivers and teams, which all made for a wonderful 2016 season.

What else are we thankful for today? We asked members of the IMS communications, digital and marketing teams and here’s what they said:

“I’m thankful for my healthy and loving family.
I’m thankful to be able to work with outstanding, competitive people who are committed to doing their best.
I’m thankful for the opportunity to help grow Hulman Company and to improve our community.
And I’m really thankful that it turned out James Hinchcliffe can dance!” CEO Hulman and Company, Mark Miles

“Mostly, I am thankful for my faith that has helped mold who I have become and my family who loves and supports me for who I am. I am also thankful every day that I have an opportunity to come to work at IMS and lead a group of passionate and talented people who care deeply for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and its future. And I am thankful that the fans, of which I am one, of the Indianapolis 500 and other events at IMS are without a doubt the best in the World.” – IMS President, Doug Boles

“2016 has been a truly amazing year at IMS!  I am thankful that I had the opportunity to work on the EPIC 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500!  The state, city and community embraced all of the events and activities surrounding the 100th Running and it made me so proud to live in a state where we can come together and enjoy celebrating a 100-year historic milestone in our community all together in a meaningful way.  Thank you to all the volunteers, corporate community, civic partners, and the IMS staff who I am so thankful for and so inspired by!” – Sr. Vice President of Events, Allison Melangton

“I am thankful for my health, and the ability to keep up and be a kid with my kids.
I am thankful for my wife, and the positive influence she has been on my health, happiness and growth of my children.
I am thankful for my parents and the things they did provide me with the appreciation of dedication, hard work and passion for sweating the little things.
I am thankful for my brother for all of the laughs and unconditional friendship that we share.
I am thankful for my home, community and the great city of Indianapolis.
I am thankful for my career, and those that have impacted it and being able to work at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.” – Executive Director of Events, Jarrod Krisiloff

“I’m thankful for my family and friends, who are always there for me. I’m thankful for the chance to work at IMS, with so many people who care so much about the world’s greatest racetrack. And I’m thankful that each day and every year brings the chance to meet new people and go on new adventures! And yeah, I’m always thankful for pizza.” – Director of Communications, Alex Damron

“As another holiday season approaches, I am thankful for the family, friends, and colleagues who make every day a blessing; and for the IMS, Hulman, and Central Indiana communities who work each and every day to place our venue, our sport, and our city among the very best in the world.” – Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Matt Mindrum

“So many things to be thankful for this year. First off, the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 was an incredible experience and I’m so thankful I was able to be a part of it. Second, I am so thankful for my coworkers. We constantly push each other to be better professionals and are all excellent representatives of the Greatest Race Course in the World. I’m thankful for my opportunity to work for this organization. I get to wake up every day and do something I love. Not many people get to and for that I’m thankful. Happy Thanksgiving.” – Marketing Coordinator, Katie Schultz

“I am thankful for being able to play a role in the biggest race in history, the 100th Running of the Indy 500. I am equally excited and thankful to share such a historic year with the best team in racing. With the addition of multiple events this year and the biggest Month of May ever, every one of us endured long days, nights and weekends to help deliver a fantastic experience for our fans all year long. I look forward to another year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and helping make the 2017 even bigger than 2016.” – Webmaster, Zach Hudson

“This year I’m thankful for workplace that I wake up excited to go to. I’m thankful for my internship at the Motor Speedway, not only because it’s the coolest place in the world, but because my co-workers are the bees knees and have done an amazing job helping me navigate my first race season here. I am beyond thankful for an amazing family and supportive boyfriend who still loved me on June 1st after a very long, but very rewarding, month of May. Cheers to making 2017 the greatest year yet.” – Marketing Intern, Allie McLaughlin

“Six months later, I’m still thankful for everything that went into the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500. Thankful for the amazing sold-out crowd, perfect weather, safe race and a champion whose red eyes revealed just how much it all meant. Can it really get any better in 2017? We’ll at least try to find out. I’m also thankful for my family, which always welcomes me home with open arms after long work weekends, which have become more numerous as the “Racing Capital of the World” expands its horizons.” – Sr. manager of Communications, John Schwarb

“I am thankful for all of my family and friends, and my first season on the IMS PR team! Being able to witness my first Indianapolis 500, Angie’s List Grand Prix, Brickyard 400, and Red Bull Air Race, all within a short span of a few months has truly been a blessing. I am thankful for my position, which has allowed me to go places, meet people, and experience things that I am not sure I ever would have before.” – Communications Coordinator, Wes Johnson

“This year, I am thankful for my good health, my family and friends and my opportunity to work here at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.” – Manager of Credentials, Tim Sullivan

“With this being the first year I have ever done anything involving motor sports, I am thankful for the chance to be exposed to such an awesome community of racing fans, as well as a fantastic staff that works tirelessly to pull off the largest single-day sporting event in the world. Additionally, I am thankful for good health, and my family that supports me no matter what direction I take in life.” – Marketing Intern, Eric Wolfzorn

“This year there is a lot to be thankful for! I’m thankful to our community and Host Committee for getting behind the 100th Running of the Indy 500 and creating the most memorable 100 days you could possibly imagine. I’m thankful for the huge success of our first official “Bike to the 500” where hundreds of cyclists avoided the traffic by hoping on their bicycles and riding to the track on race day. And that weather! You could not have asked for a more perfect day! More recently I’m grateful for the success of our inaugural Red Bull Air Race. And finally, I’m the most thankful for the great staff we have here at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and all of our partners, without whom these events couldn’t happen. It has been a crazy year and I’m excited to see what next year will bring.” – Manager of Community Outreach, Lauren Guidotti
