Josef Newgarden has been busy in this Verizon IndyCar Series offseason, lending his levity to a 2016 schedule release video and an important public service message. Always one of the funnier guys in the garage, Newgarden realized his potential behind the wheel this season with his first two wins in the Series, at Alabama and Toronto.

Hard to believe, but the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 will be the 24-year-old’s fifth start at the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Newgarden’s first appearance was in 2012 for Sarah Fisher Racing, where he qualified seventh and finished 25th after mechanical issues in the No. 67 Dollar General Dallara-Honda.

This year’s “500” was the Tennessean’s best so far, qualifying and finishing ninth for CFH Racing.
