Hello Cassie, since we are now 15 months away from the 100th running of the Indy500, can you post your favorite picture/story of any of the Speedways four founding fathers?
Perhaps a lesser-known Indianapolis 500 tradition is the quilt given to the winner during the Day After photo shoot. Since Johnny Rutherford’s second win in 1976 the Quilt Lady, also known as Jeanetta Holder, has sewn a one-of-a-kind quilt for the Indy 500 champion. During the 2013 shoot Tony Kanaan, in true TK fashion, curled up on the bricks with his new quilt from the Quilt Lady. Jeanetta is pictured behind the car laughing at TK’s shenanigans.
The Quilt Lady has also presented quilts to winners of the Brickyard 400 and other races around the nation.
