So Dan Gurney was to be the driver of the John Zink Turbine Car!
That would make quite a story that few remember.
Gurney ended up driving a Mickey Thompson rear engine Buick in the 1962 race. He also brought Colin Chapman to the 1962 race as his guest to get him interested in building a Lotus for the 1963 race.
It’s fun to look at the people along the fence. There’s no racing hats or shirts and only ONE person is wearing shorts. We can see her KNEES! How scandalous!
Donald-All this does for me is further enhance the greatness of Gurney who successfully passed his test in a Roadster…makes me think too of his early hero, “Ted Tappet”!
