Looks like Foyt,Clark,Andretti,Jones,Johncock,B.Unser,Ruby
1965 also had the greatest rookie class that ever appeared at the speedway, in my opinion. Besides Mario, there was Al Unser, Gordon Johncock, Joe Leonard and Masten Gregory (who won LeMans that same year), among others.
Great story on the picture. Keep the stories coming!
I never noticed this before but it looks as though Foyt, Mario and Bobby U. in the Novi do not have an offset suspension. Is that correct or is it the angle of the camera?
This was the first of my 41 Indy 500′s. It really made an impression on me because I have never been anywhere else on Memorial day weekend since! I remember the cars in this picture very well, some I even built models of as a kid.
This is the standard of all Indy 500 Races. Saw it on closed circuit TY in Trenton ,NJ as a 12 year old and made me an Indy fan for the rest of my life.
I was an Indy 500 princess in 1965 Is there any documentation or pictures of this? Thanks, Nancy Goebel
I’m with Nancy…I’ve been looking everywhere for past princess’s. My husbands mother, JUDITH LYNNE LOUDEN, was one in the 60s, and she passed right before we met with breast cancer. I have tried quite a few times to find a photo and information for him and can’t and its coming up on the anniversary of her passing and bday again. Can anyone help me find this information? uugly@comcast.net
