Shinin’ Times Donald! Ya need a tag-along photo of Johnny giving Rookie Tim Richmond a ride back to the pits on Johnny’s victory lap! It showed everyone the true graciousness of an Indy Icon, & Champion.
Donald-I read somewhere that one reason Big Al did not come back was the lack of credit given to John Barnard…interesting if true!
Great story. Always amazes me how short the noses were compared to today’s cars. Must have felt your toes were touching the track.
Lone Star JR is one of the BEST spokesmen Indy Car racing will ever have. He’s a class act behind the wheel or the microphone.
Great driver…great sprint driver also..saw him many times in Terre Haute Action Track…back when they “raced” all types of cars
Best lookin’ Indy car of all time.
